Fetch Hits the Stands!
June 2, 2005 Press Release
Over 62% of San Francisco and North Bay Homes Have Pets - NEW Pet Publication, FETCH the Paper, Provides Lively, Colorful, and Informative Resource for 6 Counties
SANTA ROSA, Calif., June 2 -- There´s a new publication in town that´s puttin´ on the dog indeed: FETCH the Paper. And for the hundreds of thousands of San Francisco North Bay residents who share their home with one or more domesticated critters, this just-published monthly is the resource they´ve been sitting up and begging for.
When a recent survey of thousands of pet owners disclosed that 81%
buy birthday presents for their furry (or feathered) companions and
97% use pet safe household and yard products, while nearly that many
would also drive out of their way to shop pet-friendly businesses;
new publisher Sandy Lurins knew she would be filling a vital and heretofore
overlooked need in the region she´s called home for 7 years and
was thus inspired to create this new monthly publication celebrating
the 4-legged crowd. FETCH hits newsstands this week, is free of charge,
and is now available at more than 150 locations primarily in Marin,
Sonoma, and Napa counties, plus San Francisco (with limited distribution
in Mendocino and Solano counties at present). Dog-lovers can pick up
FETCH at veterinary offices, recreational goods stores, and pet supply
stores and the paper´s availability will continue to expand.
The first color-filled and stylish issue includes an insightful profile
of three prominent North Bay artists, Robin Eschner, Mylette Welch
and John Sumner, who have found inspiration from their dogs and cats
along with a provocative interview with pet psychic and author, Marta
Williams, who explains her work teaching others "intuitive animal
communication" techniques, and a number of other lively articles
of regional interest.
Pet experts serving as columnists for the new publication include respected
behaviorist/author Trish King and regional veterinarian/author Dr.
Christopher Forsythe, DVM. "Dog Scene" provides an ongoing
roundup of pooch- friendly walks, parks and hikes, and the "What's
Happening" calendar of events features local and regional events
for the whole family ... just don't forget to pack the leash. Other
regular features of FETCH include "The Scoop" with news,
interesting tidbits, book and media reviews, and new product reviews
along with cartoons, adoptable pets, pet memorials, and a classified/business
directory. Although decidedly dog-oriented in focus, FETCH recognizes
that many homes have multiple species sharing one roof so regular features
will also include an "All in the Family" column devoted to
the care of cats, birds, and other creatures great and small. Additionally,
the publications´ online component, http://www.FetchThePaper.com,
provides highlights from each print issue and fetches visitors a variety
of interesting Internet pet resources as well as hosts the Reader Survey.
All in all, it´s a doggone fine idea whose time has come ...
